We, Susan Proud and Martin Hughes-Jones, have run Sampford Shrubs retail nursery and its associated garden (now called Holbrook Garden) near Tiverton in Devon since 1982 . We stopped using peat in 1995 and propagate almost everything we sell. Plants are grown using low impact control mechanisms for example nematodes for vine weevil control, microclimate manipulation for red spider and soft soap for the occasional concentration of aphids. Plants are grown hard and not cooked in overheated polytunnels and probably our most frequent customer comment is "your plants always grow". They are closely observed for diseases such as virus and nematode presence and suspect plants are destroyed. Our prices are reasonable because we do the whole lot here so there are no hidden freight costs nor other peoples profits.
Most of our business is from calling customers and you can call during nursery and garden hours at Sampford Shrubs & Holbrook Garden, Sampford Peverell, Tiverton, Devon EX16 7EN telephone 01884 821164 see Sampford Shrubs for opening hours and much more information.
