Please note mail order is now closed until early September 2008. Sampford Shrubs has moved to a much better server and this site is under change and some things may not be configured correctly. However it is OK to create an account and you'll be able to create a wishlist or a shopping trolley which will be there next time you log on but you will not be able to check out your order until late summer. These pages are stocked with hardy perennials available by mail order during autumn 2008 to March 2009. Plants ordered for a nextday delivery service are despatched during the period October to March or as bare root plants for early spring despatch - late February -March 2009. Orders for bare root plants are best suited to gardeners with a greenhouse or cold frame who can grow on plants for a short while before they are planted out.
Plants available includes many Heleniums from the UK national collection - healthy stock many not available elsewhere in UK and some choice garden perennials we have cherry picked from the plants which underpin our summer and autumn colour and structure in Holbrook Garden. These are the plants we mail order but it is not the full list of plants available at the nursery. Do please have a look around and, if you wish, create an account. Once registered you can assemble a provisional shopping cart which will be there when you return later.
You will find representatives of species Asters, Crocosmia, Heleniums, Monarda, Ratibida, Rudbeckia, Echinacea, Achillea, Eryngiums, Phlox, Salvia, Saponaria, Solidago, Verbena, Helianthus, Geranium and many good structural grasses such as Molinia, Miscanthus and Stipa - in short the plants we use in Holbrook Garden to create a very long season of colour, texture and habitat. And if you are in Devon between April and October do come and look around Holbrook Garden where you can see many of these plants growing.
